Why the Mont Saint-Michel is So Special
The Mont Saint-Michel is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the most visited monuments in the world. Perched on a rocky islet in the heart of a tidal bay, it stands at the crossroads of Normandy and Brittany.
This medieval marvel has drawn pilgrims for centuries—ever since the Archangel Saint Michael is said to have appeared to Aubert, the bishop of nearby Avranches. Since then, the Mont has welcomed millions of visitors who come to admire its beauty and soak in its spiritual atmosphere.
With its ancient ramparts, dramatic tides, and majestic silhouette rising from the sea, the Mont Saint-Michel is a true icon of France—an island of history, legend, and wonder.
The Abbey: The Crown Jewel of the Mont
The Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel is the main attraction atop the rocky summit. With its gothic architecture, panoramic views, and peaceful cloisters, it’s a must-visit highlight of any trip to the Mont.
Entry requires a ticket. We recommend purchasing your official tickets via Visit Mont Saint-Michel, our trusted partner platform dedicated entirely to the site.
About the Free Shuttle “Le Passeur”
The shuttle—called “Le Passeur”—runs from the main parking area to the Mont Saint-Michel causeway. It’s entirely free and operates every 12 minutes on average, from 7:30 AM to midnight.
This eco-friendly shuttle runs on natural gas, and its use is part of a broader mission to protect the fragile ecosystem of the bay. At Turiva Paris, we deeply value experiences that are respectful of our planet.
This is where to board the shuttle. Some waiting time may occur, but departures are frequent.

Walking to the Mont: A Magical Experience
If the weather is good, we highly recommend walking along the causeway instead of taking the shuttle. The walk is about 2.4 kilometers long and offers breathtaking views of the Mont emerging from the bay.
Watching the Mont get closer with every step, feeling the wind and the sea air, seeing its silhouette grow… it’s one of the most unforgettable experiences of your visit. For those who are able, this walk is truly magical.
